Who We Are
The Irish Wolfhound Club of Victoria Incorporated is an affiliate of Dogs Victoria whose aim is to preserve and promote the purebred Irish Wolfhound for future generations. We are the peak body for Irish Wolfhound breeders and owners in the state of Victoria.
We operate as an incorporated not for profit with club members and a management committee.

Our Mission
Our Mission is to preserve, protect and promote the purebred Irish Wolfhound for future generations in Australia and in particular in the state of Victoria. We support breeders and owners of Irish Wolfhounds in ensuring the health of the breed and to carry on such activities as to promote or encourage interest in the breeding, upkeep, exhibiting and improvement of Irish Wolfhounds. We will do all such other things as may be necessary or conducive to the general health and well-being carrying out the betterment of the breed.
Our Purpose
- to promote and encourage the breeding of purebred lrish Wolfhounds.
- to promote and raise the standards and exhibitions of the lrish Wolfhound in Victoria.
- to educate and encourage members, breeders and judges of the requirements and standards approved by the Victorian Canine Association for the conduct of Exhibitions and Shows.
- to promote good fellowship and sportsmanship amongst members and those participating in or attending at Exhibitions, Shows or Club events.
- to actively work and promote for improved health outcomes for Irish Wolfhounds through education, supporting research, rescue and rehoming activities.
Our Values
- The welfare of Irish Wolfhounds and the betterment of the breed is the driving force of our activities.
- We are passionate about supporting owners, breeders and exhibitors and assisting them to improve the standard, health, welfare and knowledge of Irish Wolfhounds.
- We are passionate Irish Wolfhound owners, breeders and exhibitors and we are passionate about involving and educating more people in our breed.
- We will operate in an inclusive and transparent manner and we will present an organised and professional operation.
- We welcome new members who have an interest in Irish Wolfhounds and will support them in their activities to own, breed and exhibit the breed.
The ways we might achieve the above goals are:
(a) to affiliate with the Victorian Canine Association;
(b) to promote and encourage the breeding of purebred dogs and in particular the lrish Wolfhound;
(c) to promote and raise the standards and exhibitions of registered purebred dogs, particularly the lrish Wolfhound;
(d) to promote the holding of Exhibitions under the V.C.A. Rules and Regulations and to conduct Exhibitions;
(e) to foster, promote and protect the interest of exhibitors of dogs at exhibitions and particularly the exhibitors of lrish Wolfhounds;
(f) to collect, verify and publish information relating to dogs and the breeding and exhibition of dogs:
(g) to educate and encourage members, breeders and judges to abide by the requirements and standards approved by the Victorian Canine Association for the conduct of Exhibitions and Shows,
(h) to promote good fellowship and sportsmanship amongst members and those participating in or attending at Exhibitions or Shows;
(i) to inform members of and make known to them the Laws and Regulations of the State relating to the ownership and care of dogs, and the responsibility of owners for the conduct and actions of their dogs,
(j) to hold functions and lectures relating to dogs and to the purposes of the Club generally;
(k) to provide awards and donate prizes for competition at Exhibitions and for the competition by breeders and exhibitors of dogs;
(l) to foster relations with other Clubs and bodies having similar aims;
(m) to promote and assist worthy causes, as agreed at a General Meeting of the members of the Club;
(n) to invest the funds of the Club not immediately required in such manner as the members or the Committee in lieu thereof shall determine;
(o) to purchase, hire, lease, etc. and do such things as are conductive or incidental to promoting and achieving the purposes of the Club;
(p) to carry on such other activities or promote or encourage interest in the breeding, upkeep and training of and the general well-being and improvement of Irish Wolfhounds and to do all such other things as may be necessary or conductive to carrying out the objects of the Club.
